Shattered Hearts

Seven years ago today, we unexpectedly lost a family member at the young age of 21.  David was our son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin.  David’s death rocked our family to the core and shattered all of our hearts.  As time has
passed since his death,  we have all started to pick up those shattered pieces of our hearts and continue with our daily lives.  We know that none of us will  ever find all the pieces to make our hearts complete again, as there will always be a hole that  cannot be filled.  Tonight, our family and friends will gather  for our annual  memorial dinner in honor of David.   While we still miss him, we do not gather to mourn David’s death, but to celebrate him, the life he lived and to remember all the kind and gentle ways he  touched each of our lives.  David may not be  with us physically, but he is still with us in our hearts and our thoughts each and every day, and I know he will be at dinner with us tonight in some way or another…and he will be smiling as he holds that one piece of each of our hearts, that, when placed together, forms a bigger, stronger heart more full of  love for him than any of us individually could ever possess.

We love you David Mair--forever and ever!
