Bragging Rights

I haven’t written much on Ruth’s Words lately as the last few months have been a whirlwind for me.  So I am going to use this blog to fill my readers in what’s been going on and to brag on my kids a little bit.

In May, my youngest son graduated from high school.  He is now finding his way and trying to decide what he wants to do in his life.  I have no doubts that he will be successful at whatever he chooses.  He has grown from an infant to a wonderful young man in what seems like the blink of an eye.   I look at the picture on my dresser of him and me when he a little boy and am just amazed at how fast the time has gone by.  That was back in the days when he liked to snuggle with me…now he has a beautiful girlfriend and I’m lucky to get a peck on the cheek as he is leaving the house on his way to go see her.  Although he is still young and still has some maturing to do, he has his feet planted firmly on the ground and his goals set high.

In July, my daughter got married to a wonderful young man I am proud to have as a son-in-law.  Okay, she is my “bonus” daughter—my husband and her mom get all the credit for how she turned out, which is no less than wonderful!   She is a beautiful person inside and out and she and her husband are amazing parents to two handsome boys.  She has worked hard to get where she is and is now waiting to get into clinicals for nursing school.  I think back to the first time I met her when she was 13 and I see how far she has come in life and I know she, with her new husband by her side, is going to go a whole lot further.

Earlier this summer, my middle son informed me that he and his girlfriend are going to start looking to purchase their first home.  I couldn’t be more proud!  Those of you who know my family know that they both fight their daily battles in life…him with MS and her with Type 1 Diabetes.  They both hold full time jobs and are amazing parents to a beautiful little girl.  So despite what the odds were/are against them, or what other people may have told them, they are successful, and they will only be moving up in life.

This Friday, my oldest son will graduate from college in Arizona.  And YES, I am flying out there to witness it—wild horses could not keep this proud mom away!!   He has come such a long way in life…from a stubborn little boy, to a somewhat rebellious teenager, to the mature man he is now.  It has been almost a year since I have seen him and just over a year since I have seen his girlfriend, so you know  that airplane on Thursday won’t be flying fast enough for me.  He and his girlfriend (aka, “the best thing to happen for my son”) will be heading back to Michigan in the next couple of weeks.  They both know what they want in life and are not going to stop short of getting to where they want to be.

I am very proud of each and every one of my children.  They have all come such a long way in life—in their own way and in their own time.  There have been times when they stumbled.  Sometimes I helped pick them up and other times I had to let them figure out how to get back up on their own (that is not easy for a mom to do, by the way).  But each time they stumbled, they used that as a building block to their next step in life.  Neither they nor I know what the future holds for any of them, but I one thing is for certain…I will be there for each of them until my dying breath, giving them nothing but love, support and encouragement.

How beautiful. Only you could write this so beautiful. As a mom, I would walk thru fire for my son's, that's what mom's do. God gave us our children to nourish, love, protect and to stand beside them thru all walks of life. Your an awesome mom sis and your son's would not be who they are today if it wasn't for your love, for being there when they stumbled and for believing in them. Each one will make there mark upon life and will be successful in whatever they choose to do in life. I am so proud of each of them. Thank you for sharing again your beautiful story on your blog. Love you, and so proud of my friend and sister.
