She stood by his crib on their first night at home
The home lights were dim while lullabies were playing
A light breeze was blowing as the sun was setting
She smiled through tears as she was saying
I will love you, forever and a day
I will love you, to the moon and back
Ten times more whatever you say
And oh so much longer than that
She stood in the driveway and hugged him once more
Then he climbed in his truck and smiled while waving
He was leaving home to start a life on his own
She smiled through tears as she was saying
I will love you, forever and a day
I will love you, to the moon and back
Ten times more whatever you say
And oh so much longer than that
She walked down the aisle on her grown son’s arm
To take her place as mother of the groom
As he leaned down to kiss her and hug her so tight
She whispered to him in the quiet of the room
I will love you, forever and a day
I will love you, to the moon and back
Ten times more whatever you say
And oh so much longer than that
He stood by her bedside on her last night at home
The home lights were dim while the hymns were playing
A light breeze was blowing as the sun was setting
He smiled through tears as he was saying
I will love you, forever and a day
I will love you, to the moon and back
Ten times more whatever you say
And oh so much longer than that
